Beta Hospice serves homes across the San Jacinto Valley: Hemet, San Jacinto, Valle Vista, East Hemet and the communities west toward Homeland and Winchester. Our one office, in the city of San Bernardino, is about 40 miles away, a drive of roughly 50 to 55 minutes without traffic. Nurses, hospice aides, social workers and chaplains come to the person's house, mobile home, board-and-care home or nursing facility. Nobody has to come to us.

How far is our office from Hemet?
Our only office is on North D Street in the city of San Bernardino. By road it is about 42 miles to Hemet Global Medical Center on Devonshire Avenue and about 39 miles to central San Jacinto, roughly 50 to 55 minutes without traffic. Rush-hour traffic can add time.
That distance is why we plan Hemet and San Jacinto visits by location, and why we tell you plainly how scheduled visits, after-hours calls and equipment delivery will work before care starts. A hospice nurse answers (877) 258-7129 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and can visit when needed. For a new referral, our standard is a response within two hours, day or night.
Who lives here
Hemet has many older residents. In the Census Bureau's American Community Survey for 2020 to 2024, 19,879 Hemet residents were 65 or older, 21.8% of the city. San Jacinto is younger: 5,995 residents were 65 or older, 10.9% of the city. Together that is about 26,000 people aged 65 and over in the two cities.
Hospice comes the same way to a family house, a mobile home community or a small six-bed board-and-care home. The person or their representative chooses the hospice, not the home or the park.
Hospitals and nursing facilities nearby
Hemet Global Medical Center on East Devonshire Avenue is the only general acute care hospital in Hemet or San Jacinto in the state license file, with 304 licensed beds. It is run by KPC Health. Its case management office is reached through the main line, (951) 652-2811, extension 5146, and the hospital lists interpreter services for patients who do not speak English. Our page on going home on hospice from Hemet Global Medical Center has the details. Beta Hospice is not part of the hospital.
Some valley families are treated farther away: Menifee Global Medical Center on McCall Boulevard in Menifee, run by the same company; Riverside University Health System Medical Center in Moreno Valley; or Kaiser Permanente Moreno Valley for Kaiser members. Wherever the hospital is, hospice care happens where the person lives. Read in the hospital now.
The state file lists 8 skilled nursing facilities in Hemet, one of them a skilled nursing unit inside Hemet Global Medical Center, and 1 in San Jacinto. We care for people in nursing facilities, RCFEs (residential care facilities for the elderly) and board-and-care homes, in coordination with facility staff. Read where care happens.
Medi-Cal plans in this area
Most people with Medi-Cal in Riverside County belong to a managed care plan. The county's Medi-Cal plans are Inland Empire Health Plan (IEHP) and Molina Healthcare, the same two plans as San Bernardino County, plus Kaiser Permanente for people who meet Kaiser's rules for joining. Medi-Cal covers hospice, and when you are in a managed care plan, hospice is arranged through that plan. Hemet Global Medical Center lists IEHP, Molina and Medi-Cal among the plans it works with.
These are the county's plans. Listing them here does not mean Beta Hospice has a contract with each one. Whether we are contracted with your plan is checked for each patient. Call us at (877) 258-7129 with your plan card and we will tell you where things stand before care starts.
If you have Medicare, the rules are the same in every city. Medicare covers hospice care related to the terminal illness. Under Medicare, most people pay nothing for hospice care itself. There can be a copay of up to $5 per prescription for symptom medicines and 5% of the Medicare amount for inpatient respite care. Medicare does not pay room and board where you live. Read paying for care and does Medicare cover hospice.

- Grief support. Beta offers grief support to the family for 13 months after a death, by phone, letter, visit and in groups. For community groups, see grief groups in the Inland Empire or dial 2-1-1 and ask what meets in Hemet or San Jacinto, including groups in Spanish.
Spanish-speaking families
Spanish is the language at home for many valley families: about 29% of Hemet residents aged 5 and over and about 46% in San Jacinto, in the same Census survey. Our team includes Spanish speakers, and you can ask for Spanish when you call. Read about hospice care in Spanish, or switch this page to Spanish using the language link at the top.
