What language assistance includes

  • A qualified interpreter, in person, by phone or by video, for visits, phone calls and care conferences. Phone and video interpreters are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and in-person interpreters are arranged for visits when needed.
  • Written translation of important documents, such as consent forms, the hospice election statement, the notice of patient rights and care instructions. These are available today in English, Spanish, Russian and Armenian, and in other languages on request.
  • Staff who speak your language, where we have them. English, Spanish, Russian, Armenian and other languages are spoken across Beta; we confirm a language match for your assigned team member when care is arranged.
  • For people who are deaf or hard of hearing, blind or low vision, or who have a speech disability: qualified sign language interpreters, large print, audio, accessible electronic documents and other aids.

How to ask for an interpreter or another format

  1. Step 1

Tell us your language or the format you need

Tell the person who answers the phone, your nurse or any team member. You can ask at the first call, at admission or at any time after.

  2. Step 2

    We arrange it

We set up the interpreter or prepare the document. There is no charge to you, and using these services does not affect your care.

  3. Step 3

We note it in your record

So that every visit and every after-hours call is handled in your language without you having to ask again.

Family members as interpreters

You may want a relative to help you talk with us, and for everyday conversation that is your choice. For medical decisions, consent and hard news, we offer a qualified interpreter so nothing is lost or softened, and so your family member can simply be family. We do not rely on children to interpret, except briefly in an emergency while an interpreter is being reached.

If you have a problem getting language help

Contact our civil rights coordinator by calling (909) 347-7000 or emailing info@betahospice.com and asking for the person responsible for civil rights concerns. You can also file a grievance with us or a complaint with the federal Office for Civil Rights. The steps are in our notice of nondiscrimination.
