Careers at Beta Hospice
Beta Hospice hires nurses, hospice aides, social workers and chaplains who want to care for people at the end of life, in their own homes. Our office is in San Bernardino and most of the work happens in the field, across the Inland Empire and neighboring counties. This page describes the work, the roles we commonly hire for and how to apply. For current opportunities, call (909) 347-7000 and ask for the current role description before applying; positions change.

Why do people choose hospice work?
Hospice is slower and more personal than most health care. You see one person at a time, in their home, with their family in the room. You have time to listen. The goal is comfort and dignity, and you can usually see whether your visit helped before you leave.
It is also team work. Nurses, aides, social workers, chaplains and the hospice physician plan each person's care together and meet regularly to review it. Nobody carries a hard case alone.
The work asks a lot. You will be present for death and grief, you will drive, and you will make judgment calls on your own in someone's living room. People who stay in hospice tend to say it is the most meaningful work they have done.
Which roles do we commonly hire?
These are the roles a hospice needs most often. A role listed here is not always open.
RN case manager
Manages a group of patients. Assesses, plans care with the team, manages symptoms, teaches family caregivers and coordinates with the attending physician. Requires a current California RN license.
Licensed vocational nurse (LVN)
Provides nursing visits under the direction of the RN case manager, including medicines, wound care and caregiver teaching. Requires a current California LVN license.
Hospice aide
Helps with bathing, dressing, skin care and comfort, and reports changes to the nurse. Must meet the federal hospice aide training and competency requirements. In California this is normally a certified home health aide.
Medical social worker
Supports patients and families with emotional strain, planning, advance directives and community resources. Requires a social work degree that meets Medicare personnel rules.
Chaplain or spiritual counselor
Offers spiritual support to people of any faith or none, at the patient's invitation, and helps families with meaning, ritual and grief.
On-call RN
Answers patient and family calls on evenings, nights and weekends and makes visits when needed, including visits at the time of death. Requires a current California RN license.
What do field roles have in common?
- A valid driver's license, a reliable vehicle and auto insurance. Field staff drive to every visit.
- Comfort working alone in homes and care facilities, and documenting visits on a tablet or laptop.
- Background screening, health screening and tuberculosis testing as California and Medicare rules require.
- Spanish and other languages are a real asset in our service area.
- Hospice experience helps but is not always required. Orientation is tailored to your prior experience and role.
How do you apply?
To ask how to apply, call (909) 347-7000 and ask for recruitment. You will be given the approved way to send a resume and supporting documents.
Pay ranges, benefits and schedules are given for each opening as California law requires, in the posting and the written offer.
Please do not send resumes through the patient callback form. General office details are on the contact page.

Only a hospice doctor, together with the personās own doctor, can confirm hospice eligibility. A website cannot.
- A nurse answers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
- You can stop hospice at any time
- You have the right to choose your hospice
